Yesterday was crazy. There was an epilepsy board meeting yesterday morning (where the whole team meets and discusses patients) and our flight was yesterday early afternoon. So from the time that the meeting was out and the time we ran out of the hospital for a cab...we received lots of information.
Although we are still processing and figuring out specifics, we do know that Otis will need to have surgery on his brain. Dr. L explained that Otis' brain would not get better on its own, and that the chances of medications stopping seizures to a desired level are close to zero. Although it was hard to swallow, this information pretty much made surgery for Otis inevitable. Surgery will give Otis a 50% chance to be seizure free. The other 50% will be partial seizure control to no change at all.
Today we are processing information, compiling long lists of questions that we didn't think of in the rush of yesterday, planning another trip to Cleveland, and enjoying Otis unplugged!
He is tired but seems to be happy to be home, are are we.
