We had a good trip to Colorado. The state of Colorado has Otis' paperwork and we hope soon to receive his "Red Card" allowing him to get treated with the strain of medical marijuana mentioned in the last post. Everything about the trip went exactly as planned...almost. We spent a little over 4 hours at the DMV...even though we had an appointment. "The system was down". We stayed as long as we could and then went to our first doctor appointment, which was in Denver. We were in and out in about 35 minutes.
The next morning I went back to the DMV, the system was up and running and I got my driver's license in about 30 minutes.
(Quick side story: Spending 4 hours at the DMV was not as bad as it might seem. We played cards, Otis took a nap, and we met a VERY nice woman who worked at the DMV who just happened to look just like Gary Busey...well not exactly like her, but if must have been his sister. Super sweet person, Lynnette.)
After the DMV, we drove down to Colorado Springs...which is apparently called "the Springs". We feel like locals, knowing such lingo. "The Springs" was great. We met with the second doctor, Dr. Gedde, who just the day before had presented the results from her study at the American Epilepsy Society annual meeting in DC. We'll be following up with Dr. Gedde once Otis starts treatment...which will be...
We don't know when yet. That's why we've waited so long to post...we were hoping to know by now...but if we've learned nothing else over the past two years, it's patience...so we're waiting for paper work to be process...PATIENTLY!!!!...I mean...patiently.
We'll let you know when we know more. In the mean time we'll be enjoying Christmas with family and friends.
Oh, and speaking of friends. A BIG thanks to Craig and Kate Stephens for all your help throughout this adventure west. More BIG thanks to Kira, Wes, and Chloe for putting us up in their Colorado Casa while we got our paperwork done. We had fun hanging with you and hope to see you all soon.
In fact, we hope we see anyone reading this soon...so we can give you MASSIVE HUGS! Your support and love helps us know that we are not alone on this beautiful and bumpy journey.
We love you all!
P.S.
We're adding to the "MMJ Resources" tab almost weekly. We'll post the newer sites at the top of the page. We're hoping to meet/talk with Kansas Reps, soon...and please feel free to call, email, text, or write with any questions.
