7 months

I don't have the energy or the brain power these days to come up with much of a post, but here's a quick update. Otis is still hanging in there, working hard on holding his head up, lifting up during tummy time, trying to roll from his tummy to his back, and making that hand-eye connection. We've discovered all the tricks to get smiles out of him here and there, and have even gotten an occasional laugh. He has had a bit of a rough patch since Christmas--a cough, intermittent constipation from the keto diet, and a bad reaction to his 4-month catch-up immunizations (even though we avoided the DTaP)--so we haven't seen a big improvement in seizure activity after that initial drop from going off of that evil Vigabatrin. He's holding steady at about 50-60 seizures per day now, many of which occur as he's trying to go to sleep at night.

The Zonegran, which he has been on for about 2 and a half weeks now, has so far done nothing but make him super agitated at bedtime, making it pretty difficult for any of us to get any sleep. We know the exhaustion and sleep deprivation can't be helping with the seizures, but O's neurologist wants to keep him on the drug for at least another 2 weeks to see if that side-effect goes away as he gets used to the drug.

We're still trying as hard as we can to stay positive and hopeful that Otis will get better. We're so grateful for all of the love and support from our family and friends, and ask that you please keep us in your prayers as we continue on this difficult journey.

okay...not quite 7 months in this pic, but I couldn't leave it out

Peas! (and butter!)

Snoozing with his hands resting on his tummy like my Great Grandpa Art

Do these baby Dad Jeans make me look 5 feet tall?
(his real feet are actually somewhere just below the knee area :)

I am thinking of you guys and am so proud of you. You are in our thoughts regularly and Otis is incredibly lucky to have you all as parents. If you ever need to talk or a cheer-up song just call me. :)
