One Month Old Otis

SO...here's a long story short...there may be a time later where we expand on what happened...but right now the short version will help us get started.

6/13/11--1:33 am--Kathy's water breaks

6/14/11--5:30pm--After laboring at home for a while we leave for the Birth Center For those of you interested...Kathy gave birth completely unmedicated...and...she...ROCKED!

(We believe that natural unmedicated childbirth is a beautiful thing, but realize that every mom will give birth that works for them...and that's cool.  Either of us would be happy to answer any questions you have about the process...it was a wonderful experience.)

6/14/11--11:43pm--Otis Flynn Reed was born!

His heart beat was strong, but he aspirated some fluid on his way out and was having trouble breathing...he gave us quite a scare, because he looked kinda like this...

 No offense Marc.

Shortly after the EMT people were called Otis started coming around and regaining a less blue color.  But Otis and Dad took a ride to the hospital across the street anyway.  Mom joined us shortly after.

Here is our first picture as a family:

We were in the NICU at the hospital for a week...blah...and Otis was treated for pneumonia.   

 Ryan's phone died the next day...blah...and he lost all of his numbers...blah...but recovered them two days ago....yeah!
Also, BIG thanks to cousin Nancy and Dr. H for letting us crash with you while Otis was in the hospital...that was very very nice...YEAH! 

We came home 6/21/11 and have been very happy to be at home with Otis.  

 

Here are some fun facts about Otis:

·        He has already outgrown the laundry basket.

·        He is a great singer!

·        He doesn’t like tummy time…but is good at plank pose.

·        He usually loves bath time.

·        Sometimes his poo smells of buttered popcorn…no picture, sorry Gatz.

·        He is awesome!!
